An Apple a Day

We have completed our first six weeks of school! Hooray! Maddie got her report card. She mastered everything and received an E for Excellence. She is really doing well. Her report card was posted on the web. Boy, things sure have changed since I was a kid!

We studied Apples this past week. In honor of Johnny Appleseed's birthday, they had an apple tasting party at school. Everyone brought their favorite kind of apple. They made a graph depicting everyone's favorite type. They also had apple dip, apple pie, and apple juice. It was a lot of fun. Caden really enjoyed the taste testing.

We went to the grocery store and compared all of the different types of apples. Did you know they all have a different amount of seeds? It is amazing to me to see all of the variety in God's creation even down to the choices of apples!
My dad also brought us a box full of fresh apples from the apple orchard in New Mexico. It was perfect timing. We have been eating on them all weekend. They are delicious! We made homemade applesauce yesterday. The kids loved it! It was a lot of fun.
