"Mom, Have you noticed that the leaves are losing their chlorophyll more each day?" This is Maddie's statement yesterday as we are driving down the road. Can you guess what we studied in school this week? Leaves have been a big topic at our house. Madison has been obsessed with studying their veins and looking for patterns. I think Kinley is still trying to get over the fact that we eat some types of leaves. I've caught her studying her salad at the dinner table.
The kids started a leaf collection and have been pressing them in wax paper. Tiffany and her boys met us out at the barn for a picnic. We read books on leaves and went on a leaf hunt. It was perfect weather. We had a great day together. Caden enjoyed climbing up Mimi and Grandaddy's stairs.
I think he finally wore himself out because he laid down to rest during our picnic.
We found a lot of great leaves for our collection. Although, you would think this girl that has lived in the country her WHOLE LIFE would recognize poison ivy leaves. No, of course not and I have the spots to prove it. I am just wondering what Maddie's teacher thought about the "leaves of three" that I sent to school this week in her backpack! Hopefully the kinder class at Sterling will not have an epidemic of poison ivy breakout.

Here is Kinley showing off a few of her finds.

Here is a little advice from the country girl--"Leaves of three. LEAVE THEM BE!"
I better end for now. It is time to reapply another coat of calamine lotion!
