Week 9 of School

This week in school we took an interesting field trip. We went to the dump! Well, not really. We headed to the Texas Disposal System's Exotic Game Ranch. It is located in South Austin. It is really a beautiful facility. I did not realize that whenever a landfill is made, the company must also do something to add value to the land. This particular company created an exotic game ranch.

We started our tour at the ranch. The kids loaded up on a big yellow school bus which thrilled them all!

We drove along looking at all types of animals. Caden was so excited. He was pointing everywhere yelling "LOOK!" I think we may have a future hunter on our hands.

The kids favorite animals were the black buck deer , buffalo, axis deer, the rhino, the giraffe, and the huge tortoise. We actually got to get off the bus to visit the giraffe who loved being fed. He was super friendly and let the kids pet him. He even licked Caden with his long black tongue! They got really close to the rhino and tortoise too. It was a fun experience.

The tour also took us around the landfill and to the recycling center. Maddie, who is in charge of recycling at our house, was very excited to see how the process worked. She is already so environmental conscious. It is encouraging to think that our future generation will do a better job than we have with taking care of the incredible earth God has given us.

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. Genesis 1:31
