Sisters

In the cookies of life, sisters are the chocolate chips.

I have been watching the relationship of my sweet two girls just blossom over the last few months. They are truly best friends. The other night Madison got in trouble and had to stay home rather than go by Aunt April's house. It upset Madison but it was devastating for Kinley. She cried the whole way over to April's house. When we were almost there, she said "Do you think sissy feels better yet?" It just broke her heart that Madison was upset.

Later this week, we had Kinley had a run in with a playmate. Whenever they pushed Kinley down, Madison kicked them and stood up for her sister without hesitation. She was not letting anyone bully her lil' sis.

For Madison's birthday, Kinley went to the store to pick out her gift. She searched high and low looking for just the perfect gift, finally settling on a purple unicorn.

For Madison's birthday party, we divided the kiddos into teams for a scavenger hunt. Whenever I asked Maddie who she wanted on her team, Kinley was was of her top three choices. I was touched that she would want to include her sister on her special day.

Kinley copied her name the other day for the first time. Madison was so delighted that she hung it on our refrigerator and put a sticker on the top of her paper. Maddie's bragging brought the biggest grin to Kinley's face and gave her eyes that extra sparkle that we all love to see.

We still have moments where they are ready to pull each other's hair out but they are getting fewer and farther between. It reminds me of a quote I read once:

If you don't understand how a woman could both love her sister dearly and want to wring her neck at the same time, then you were probably an only child. ~Linda Sunshine

Joel took the awesome pictures! Isn't he wonderful? He took several great ones of all my kiddos. I will try to post them over the next few days!
